    Academy

The X-Roads Academy is essential to the foundations and the future of the club. Our goal is to help produce honest, reliable, hardworking citizens who have the social, academic and leadership skills to make significant contributions to their families, friends and community.

We seek to provide a viable vehicle to enable football players to play at their highest level whether as local amateurs, collegiate athletes or as overseas professionals.

Our club motto is Knowledge, Faith, and Victory.

The X-Roads philosophy to player development is to utilize small sided games to develop skillful players who can handle the ball in tight spaces and have the confidence and freedom to play without fear.

We seek to develop players who work hard on and off the field and have a “Warrior” mentality of never giving up no matter what the circumstances may be.

We aim to develop players who have pride in themselves, their team and foster true respect amongst one another. Our aim is to develop players that have all the necessary skills to play at their highest level possible.

Combining these attributes together we look to develop a “X-Roads Warriors” player that is:

    • Skillful
    • Confident
    • Works hard
    • Never gives up
    • Humble
    • Respectful
    • Has pride in themselves, their team and community.

    Player Development Pathways

    Player Development & Winning

    • Player development and winning are often seen as two mutually exclusive concepts, with the common perception being that one should be favored over the other. It is XFC’s position that if the former is approached correctly, then the latter will evolve naturally.
    • To demand or expect a child to win without the mastery of the basic fundamentals of football is like building a house with a weak foundation and expecting it to withstand the forces of a hurricane.
    • Negative issues arise when the importance of winning is emphasized over that of player development. Focus is taken away from the development of the player and placed solely on the pursuit of positive short-term results.
    • We look to foster an appropriate balance in this equation by employing a player-centered philosophy, as opposed to one which is solely results-orientated.
There is no disgrace in wanting to win, but it has to be done the right way, within the spirit of football
